Rear View House

Blackheath, Blue Mountains
NSW

Bushfire considered design.

Rear View House rests above a large expanse of the Blue Mountains National Park, drawing in this unique landscape through a series of flame zone rated windows. Privacy from the road is achieved via high-level glazing. A sense of connection to place is accentuated by the use of honest materials, in particular the recycled brickwork that forms parts of the interior and exterior exposed surfaces. This along with timber detailing inside makes the space feel warm, open and inviting.

FROM THE CLIENT

“We really feel like we’re in amongst the trees, we don’t see the road or neighbours in any direction, we get tons of light from the north. When we’re here we sleep better. It’s fantastic.”
