Overview

After every project it’s good to reflect— what went well? what challenges were overcome? How has the new space transformed daily life?

Here are some client thoughts and experiences…

“When we had ideas about how things would be done or finished, Ingrid was always mindful of our budget.

We've lived in four houses in Blackheath. Our last house didn't have good heating. Keeping the house warm was a full time job. It was very stressful. Now, after working with Ingrid, for the first time life feels easy. It’s an easy house to live in. We don't have to worry. And we entertain more regularly.

We’ve got Ingrid to thank.”

“I feel so grateful I was introduced to Ingrid.

Ingrid will go to the trouble of sitting with me and going through each wall, each line, each window fitting, each detail. She never assumes she’s got it the way I need. We work closely together. She's very patient, and I test her patience frequently! I trust her if there's any concern. She flags it early. I know I've got somebody who has got my back.

Ingrid is one of the few architects I've worked with who really respects when there’s a parameter for budget. She’ll work as best to support you and keep your budget in mind. So many architects have extraordinary ideas, but they are completely inaccessible to the average person.”

“Ingrid designed an utterly gorgeous house that we absolutely love. We love cooking and entertaining, and the kitchen is very much the heart of our home. The kitchen bench in our old house was set on an angle. Ingrid picked up on it and realised it was important to us. So with the new design the angles were all based around the angle of the kitchen bench.

Ingrid really understands what it means for a house to be exposed to bushfire, and really knows how the Blue Mountains housing ecosystem works. Having someone who really deeply understands those issues, and doesn’t treat it as a box-ticking exercise, was important to us.

Ingrid knows how Council works, and knows what they want. For us, a DA for building an entirely new house on a block that had the environmentally sensitive zones on it took us about eight weeks. But we've heard of people taking years to get through council. Ingrid knows the process very well, and has a lot of experience with it.”

“Getting Council approval for a house in the Blue Mountains is complicated. We wanted someone who would be able to manage that process for us in a way that was productive and efficient, and still looked after our interests. Ingrid was really patient and professional.

We are very grateful to have her involved. She made it so much easier. Ingrid does have a strong creative sense. But at the same time she never loses sight of the logistics. It has become clear to us that these practical considerations have sort of informed her whole vision for the place right from the beginning.”

“Ingrid is always willing to engage and think about what you really want. She listens. Her design incorporated what we wanted and needed, but also what she thought we needed. She was spot on. We were very impressed.

Our home is really beautiful now. We're so in touch with the landscape. You walk into the house and it opens up and is connected to the land and trees outside.. Every single person who comes into our house says, ‘Wow!’
