Pitt Park Sportsground

Wentworth Falls

Pitt Park Club was commissioned by the local council to create an inclusive community sporting hub. The program includes a multipurpose room, Kiosk, accessible change rooms and toilet facilities, storage, and umpire rooms.

Situated on the Southern corner of the Pitt Park Soccer fields, the pavilion was designed to provide new clubhouse and amenities for the Wentworth Falls Soccer club and was delivered within a tightly controlled fixed budget. The construction efficiency rate was achieved via a value managed design process, which in turn enabled a high level of design innovation.

The upper level celebrates the sporting event of running out onto the field via a ramp. This symbolic gesture is strengthened by the split gable roof design above. The vibrant colour strip around the exterior represents the clubs colour.

A large elevated viewing deck provides somewhere shelter to watch the game in winter weather and also provides a sheltered space under for training to occur in inclement weather.

Club past president Lesley Tarlinton, "Seeing something straight out of our collective dreams sitting solid on the park ... it's of course relief and delight." She said Blackheath architect, Ingrid Donald, "did a magic trick" making the building "fit for purpose, on budget with all the building regulations". Ms Tarlinton said she was delighted knowing locals and visitors have a safe change room space and showers to warm up, especially for days when they play in the snow.

The mayor, Mark Greenhill, said the building provided "easy access for all abilities, thereby increasing opportunities for local and visiting players of all abilities and their friends and family to participate in sport and community activities". Cr Greenhill said: "It is our hope that Pitt Park Clubhouse will be more than just a building. These grounds have a long history and relationship with the Wentworth Falls and wider Blue Mountains community."
